We joined Porsche on a warm July afternoon for the first segment of their countrywide tour of “Destination Drives”, where locals can come in and experience time behind the wheels of the entire Porsche line in a real-life setting. The hot, hot weather didn’t deter everyone from having a great time putting the cars through the paces at a makeshift track prepared in the massive parking lot at Reliant Arena. In between sessions, everyone met back at The Astorian to receive more information about Porsche’s model line, as well as exciting offers available only to Destination Drives participants. It was a great day, and we loved gathering candid coverage for Porsche to use in their upcoming press releases and promotional material for future Destination Drives. Below are some highlights from the day!
Better late than never to share this awesome road trip that Theo-Graphics took to both Austin and Dallas to photograph 4 stunning cars for Bonhams Auctioneers. Back in July of 2015 we traveled to two separate collections in Texas, each of which had some marquee models in the car world. First was the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL – the world famous “Gullwing” supercar, upon which the current Mercedes SLS pays homage. Factory original paint and interior, this car was one of the cleanest examples I’d ever seen. You simply cannot take a bad image of this car!
Classic Porsches are becoming increasingly valuable, and as such, I have been photographing a good deal more of them in the past year or so. I was contacted by Bonhams about photographing this stunning example, a 1967 911S, which was located at a Porsche specific shop out in Sealy, Texas.
We found some nice country roads nearby the shop right as the sun was setting, and managed to get some great shots of this beautiful car. Keep an eye out for it at the Scottsdale Auction, January 29-30 of next year!
We were contacted last minute about traveling to Dallas for a session with one of my dream cars: a 1962 Porsche 356 Carrera 2 GS Coupe. The car has been meticulously maintained and looks showroom new. This special edition Porsche came with a 130 bhp, 1,966 cc DOHC air-cooled horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with dual Solex 40 PII-4 carburettors, four-speed manual transmission, parallel trailing arm front suspension with transverse torsion bars, swing axle rear suspension with transverse torsion bars, and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. It was one of the very few to be fitted with the sunroof option as well. Beautiful car, inside and out. Enjoy the images!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything automotive, but that isn’t to say that I haven’t been shooting! With the wedding season hitting its peak this spring/summer, I had neglected to post any automotive work that I’d finished up. I have a bunch backlogged now, so get ready for lots of automotive content coming in the next few weeks!
First up is a trip to Crave Luxury Auto to cover 8 vehicles that are going to be sold at auction by Mecum. Seeing cars like a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB is quite a sight, let along seeing two in the same spot! It was a long, extremely hot day of shooting, the only respite being a broken $5 umbrella that I found in my car to shield myself from the unrelenting triple digit heat.
