I was so pumped to get to hang out with Teddy again! It had been exactly a year since we had our last session, and it was so great to catch up. He is such a funny kid, with awesome stories and jokes. It has been so cool to be a part of him growing up, which you can see in their previous sessions here, here, and here. Can’t wait until we can hang out again, Teddy!
We met with the Butkus family near Rice University on a sunny fall afternoon to get some photos of their soon to be expanding family! We found out that just days later, on November 5th, they welcomed their new little girl into the family. We couldn’t be more excited for you both, and we can’t wait for a session with the little one.
It wasn’t too long ago that we met Elizabeth, Eric, and Elizabeth’s family for a session near downtown Houston, so we were excited when they reached out about the big news – they were expecting! We met at a park near their house for a beautiful fall session, complete with their pups in tow. We hope you guys love the photos, and we are so excited for you and your new family. Congratulations again!
I was so happy to get a break in the seemingly endless dreary, rainy weather that we’ve been having lately to shoot Elizabeth’s family session at the Houston Policeman’s Memorial near downtown! The weather broke, if only for a day or two, giving way to mild temperatures and perfect, warm light. We took full advantage during the session, getting some great shots of the family, as well as Elizabeth’s sister Sarah’s cap and gown shots for her graduation (congrats, Sarah!). Thanks so much guys, and I hope you love the photos!
It seems like yesterday that we were photographing Adam and Whitney’s engagement session and wedding at Amber Springs, but time has just blurred by. I watched as Whitney posted updates on Colton’s progress, belly getting bigger and bigger. And then, just before we rolled into 2015, baby Colton was born! We’d been planning a newborn session for a few weeks, so shortly after I met them at their home in Northwest Houston to formally meet the little guy.
It was so great to take Colton’s very first photos, I never tire of seeing the couples that I photograph taking shape into families and growing together.
I was super excited when I got the call from Teddy’s parents that it was time for another session. It has been so cool seeing the little guy’s progression each time we meet, and we’ve definitely made a little bond together. We met on a perfect afternoon at Rice University to take some photos just before Halloween. While shooting, we discussed the intricacies of my speedlight, the color variations of M&M’s, helicopters, as well as his projected haul for Halloween. He even brought is pirate costume, which he switched into for a few shots towards the end of the session.
It was so great to have a brief session with little Tinley recently. She is still so small – almost three months old at the time of photos, but seemed to enjoy the session! While we were outside with her in the grass, the warm Houston summer air seemed to keep her nice and sleepy, allowing us a little time for some great shots. My favorite though, were when we went back inside to pack up and end the session. I noticed Thomas, Tinley’s dad, holding her in the soft window light and realized it was a great opportunity for a few more photos. The shots of the three of them together in the warm light are some of my favorites – great moments!
One of the best things about my job is being able to keep in touch with couples I worked with as their family begins and grows. Since their beautiful wedding in October of 2012 and their maternity session at home late last year, a lot has changed. Little Stephen III (or SBIII, for short) has been born and is growing like crazy! We met up with him, mom and dad at their house in the Heights for their session earlier this month. Stephen was all smiles, hamming it up for the camera nearly the entire time. It’s so great to see his personality blooming and becoming more and more unique. He’s getting very close to standing on his own, so walking will not be too far behind. I’m excited to watch the little guy grow bigger and bigger, and can’t wait for the next session with him!
It had been a little while since my last studio session with Teddy, so I was excited to get the call from his parents about setting up another session for the little guy! Well, as I found out upon meeting them at Sam Houston Park, he’s not so little anymore! He’s now running around as fast as his legs can take him and talking up a storm. It’s so cool to see his personality take shape more and more each time we see each other.
This time he brought a few of his favorites, a harmonica, his favorite pink shirt, and of course, lollipops. For the most part, I elected to let him show me all his new things and just be himself. He is so great in front of the camera, a real natural! After wondering what I was looking at after each shot, he asked to see the camera and was surprised to see himself on it. After that, he requested to see the camera after most photos so that he could check himself out. It was all great fun!
