Bret and Meredith are a Houston “it” couple. Meeting at a trendy bar, living in their gorgeous home in Meyerland, and socializing throughout the city whenever they can. We loved when they said that they wanted their engagement session to be in Houston’s revitalized downtown The unique mix of architecture between the 1912 Rice Hotel (where they are getting married!), warehouse-style buildings turned into moderns bars, and unique green spaces make for a fun and dynamic session.
After we shot around downtown, we made a move to our favorite park in Houston, Centennial Gardens. We had about 20 minutes to shoot because they are super strict on their closing times. The park attendants even go as far as shouting at you with a bullhorn to make sure you know it’s time to go! Even with those pesky park attendants, Centennial never disappoints. With ever-changing landscape, giving you everything from gorgeous desert plants to romantic roses it’s a perfect backdrop.
We love small, intimate weddings. They allow for the couples to relax and enjoy spending time with their closest family and friends on one of the most important days of their lives. Sarah and Joe’s wedding was set in the gardens of the beautiful Brenner’s Steakhouse in Katy. After a small ceremony, everyone gathered inside for lunch with the newlyweds. We were able to spend some time walking the grounds to get some great portraits as well! We’re so happy for you two, congratulations!
Brittany and Aaron happened to know the owner of the Little Dipper, who graciously offered up the space for their engagement photos. It was a great location, with a cool patio area pouring into Main St. and a vintage, yet quite stylish, interior. The pair ordered some craft cocktails and we snapped away. Lola, their pup, was also invited to the bar and we got some great shots of the family all together.
Lola made a request to move the photo session over to the recently opened Levy Park, a fabulous green space just off Kirby Drive. No one could refuse Lola’s puppy face, so we packed up and headed over!
Anthony and MyLinh’s pre-wedding session is a cultural normality that is quickly gaining speed here in the US!. The main difference between pre-wedding photos and standard American photos is that couple quite often will actually wear their wedding day attire. Because they are wearing such fabulous outfits the shots tend to be a bit more glamorous! It also holds the great benefit of being able to get a much greater number of couple’s photos than may be possible on the actual wedding day, and what’s not to love about that!
It’s was a hot summer day in Texas when we drove up to meet Justin and Katie at their Airbnb in Galveston, Texas. They recently have moved to Baton Rouge, LA together, so it was our first time meeting them together.
Right off the bat they greeted us with warm smiles, and we can could tell we were about to have a great session. Justin and Katie may live in Louisiana, but these Aggies had Texas charm! We headed over to the Seawall right next to the Pleasure Pier for some fun filled beach shots!
Zach and Katie are both teachers and met teaching here in Houston. I like to say they are a modern twist on high school sweethearts! When we got together to brainstorm ideas for their engagement session, we knew we wanted to highlight their love of the arts (they got engaged at MFAH) and their love for the city that brought them together. The two are the sweetest, so I suggested a fun urban cafe, Tout Suite. Tout Suite, is known for it’s open modern design, delish desserts (some of the best macarons in Houston!), and great coffee. To showcase their love of art, Zach and Katie recommended shooting at Houston’s downtown Graffiti park. Wrapping it up, we selected Houston’s downtown city park, Discovery Green. At Discovery Green, you can get a great mix of green space and cityscape.
When we met Michael and Priyanka to discuss ideas for their engagement session, they told us they wanted something where their unique personalities were highlighted and they could feel comfortable. They’d recently gotten engaged in gorgeous Santorini, Greece, so we knew we’d like to incorporate a sunset near the water. Priyanka is a serious fashionista, while Michael has a more laid back style, so we sought out a location that could bring it all together. It didn’t take long for us to agree on a trip to New Orleans, where we could capture the classic architecture of the city, chill out in the Quarter, and sail away on the lake.
Hi I’m Ashleigh, a Houston native who met my partner, Theo Civitello, 8 years ago. Ever since, we’ve been on an incredible journey together. We meet at the ripe ole age of 23 during one of the worst recessions our country has ever seen. We were both bright young graduates striving for those dream jobs we were promised our whole lives. Unfortunately,at least it seemed at the time, we both ended up taking restaurant jobs while wondering what to do with ourselves.
After about 2 years, we decided to move into together. I was organizing our new home when I found Theo’s photography portfolio from college. I looked through it and was amazed by how good the photos were. We had been together 2 years, and I had never seen Theo take a picture. Right away, I spoke to him and said,
I knew as I walked into the Hotel Galvez that Erin and Sean’s wedding was going to be a beautiful affair, but it surpassed my highest expectations and ended up being one of my favorites weddings of 2017! All the beautiful scenery that Galveston has to offer, the stunning Sacred Heart Church where they were married, the historic Hotel Galvez – it all came together so well. Throw in these two into the mix and you’ve got the perfect storm, per se. Thank you so much to Erin, Sean, and their family and friends for making the wedding come together in perfect fashion. We’re so happy for you two!
