Meghan’s Bridal Set at Sam Houston Park – Houston Bridal Photography

I’ve been waiting to post the photos of this one since the day we took them! We met Meghan just weeks before her wedding at Sam Houston Park to shoot her bridals. Sam Houston Park is a beautiful place, nestled just in front of the towering Houston Sykline. With old structures that were either built or moved on the land, it features a small town feel that is usually devoid in a huge city like Houston. I was really liking the Southern feel to some of the old houses, and decided that the long, “L” shaped porch of the Pillot House would be a great place to start the shoot. With elaborate latticework and carved wood archways looking out onto the grounds, it worked perfectly for the set. The warm sunlight coming in through the trees behind Meghan worked as a hair light, giving a very nice bright edge to her dress and hair.

From there, we simply walked around the park looking for good spots to shoot. We took a couple in front of the Saint John Church, and also some in and around a small gazebo that is set near a pond at the edge of the park. There was a beautiful fountain that was the color of oxidized copper on the Allen Parkway side of the park, which we spent some time shooting next to. I loved the European feel of the fountain, as it reminded me of many of the public fountains in Paris and Rome – not something that you can usually compare Houston to! Meghan pointed out some really cool slate stone steps that led down to a pond at the edge of the park, and we were able to get some awesome shots of her sitting on the steps without her shoes on – vey natural and perfect for Meghan!

Now that Meghan and Stephen are officially hitched, I can finally share these images with everyone. I love these bridals, and they wouldn’t have been possible without Meghan’s awesome attitude at the shoot as well as her willingness to do pretty much anything for a good shot! I hope everyone loves them, and congratulations again to Meghan and Stephen!
