It was a trip to Europe in 2003 that triggered my love for photography. My small view of the world was suddenly opened up, and I found this desire to document all these little details and moments that I was experiencing. My dad had brought along an Olympus OM-2N that he'd had for years and years, and we sat under the Eiffel Tower one afternoon and he taught me the basics. What I assumed would be just a regular family trip changed my course in life right then and there. A few of the (in-focus) moments from that trip are just below, in the section titled "Where it began".

Photography has taken me to some amazing locations and put me in front of subjects that I could once only dream of. Each couple, each trip, and each moment offer new and exciting adventures. It's pretty great to be able to truly love what you do!
Ashleigh Civitello
Ashleigh and I were married on August 10, 2018 in Lake Tahoe, but we've been together since 2009. We met while slingin' half-priced fajitas at a Mexican restaurant in Houston shortly after I graduated college. After MANY missed cues on my part, we had our first date at an Astros game (I splurged on 3rd baseline tickets, she brought liquor in a water bottle hidden in her purse) and the rest is history.

We complete each other perfectly: I'm creative and more of an introvert, while she's outgoing and business-minded. When I was thinking about becoming a photographer she was there to help me make the leap, supporting me all the way. I love that we encourage each other to take risks and go for what makes us happy. Just below are some of our favorite spots in the world, hope you enjoy looking through them!

Our Special Places

Things we love
01.
Our pup, Cash.

More commonly known as "Pig". Found on the side of the highway at just 6 weeks old, we aptly named him Cash after Johnny Cash, the Highway Man. Now an old man at 14 years (14!), he enjoys short but frequent walks, snoozing in sunny patches, and hanging out with his neighborhood "old man dogs".

02.
Curbside grocery delivery.

Some find it a soothing experience to go grocery shopping, but we're unfortunately not in that camp. Add it to the cart, wait a few hours, then swing by to pick it up. They even give you a free cookie, what's not to love?

03.
Sleeping late even though we've got a ton to do today.

We always have great intentions setting that early alarm, but those intentions always seem to vaporize come 6:30 a.m. It's a work in progress!

04.
Travel.

Whether it be for work or pleasure, we're constantly on the go. There's something about visiting somewhere you've never been and seeing completely new things that stirs something inside. We've visited 15 countries and countless cities and states between the two of us, and we're just getting started.

05.
Sushi.

Our go-to is usually to order a bunch of sashimi with two side orders of sushi rice and dig in. I've recently discovered Amberjack sashimi on a recommendation, and have been obsessed ever since. So rich and buttery! Our favorite spots in Houston are Kata Robata and Ka Sushi, but SUGARFISH in Los Angeles truly has our hearts.

06.
Cars.

We're both linked to cars in separate ways. Growing up, I hoarded car magazines, dreaming about one day being an automotive journalist and photographer. My love of cars never faded, and today I've been able to photograph cars that I'd only been able to dream of as a kid. Ashleigh is a consultant for a company that assists other businesses in the automotive industry. If you've got a car question, she's probably the one you should ask!
