I was looking forward to shooting at the Bell Tower on 34th street again for some time! It is a great location, with beautiful outdoor scenery, including a waterfall, Tuscan style gardens and archways. Shortly after arriving however, the sky turned a threatening shade of gray and thunder began to roll in. I quickly ran the groom and his groomsmen outside, just dodging the bride as she arrived from the hotel, to the side of the gardens to get a few shots before the rain began. The groomsmen were all happy to play along as I snapped away, mostly cat-calling the groom as I took his formal shots. With the bride safely put away, I dropped them back to their changing room and went to check on the bride.
As I walked up the grand stairway to the bride’s changing room, I could hear the bridesmaids and the bride’s mother milling about, getting the bride into her dress. I came in just in time as they were zipping her up and fitting her with a beautiful, long flowing veil. With it now raining, I found a new location to shoot a few bridal shots near her changing room. A large window allowed for a lot of nice natural light that gave her dress a soft, dreamy look. They are some of my favorite bridals yet!
The ceremony went perfectly and soon everyone moved into the reception area, which was beautifully decorated with no small detail untouched. I loved the seating setup that they had next to the fireplace, complete with matching flowers and candles all over. Very classy!
Before exiting, I took the bride and groom outside to get some shots with their Rolls Royce exit vehicle. It was so humid outside that no matter how many times I wiped my lens clean, it would immediately fog back up! The resulting photos had a very “dreamy” feel to them due to the softness brought on by the haze on the lens, but I think the effect is actually kind of cool, haha.
Overall, this was an extremely well-done and classy wedding, featuring some gorgeous details and great ideas. It sure is easy to photograph everything when it is all so beautiful!
Congrats to the newlyweds, and I hope everyone enjoys the photos!
