Better late than never to share this awesome road trip that Theo-Graphics took to both Austin and Dallas to photograph 4 stunning cars for Bonhams Auctioneers. Back in July of 2015 we traveled to two separate collections in Texas, each of which had some marquee models in the car world. First was the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL – the world famous “Gullwing” supercar, upon which the current Mercedes SLS pays homage. Factory original paint and interior, this car was one of the cleanest examples I’d ever seen. You simply cannot take a bad image of this car!
Next was the 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet, a proper land yacht. Built for comfort. not for speed, this was a rolling living room that must’ve been a perfect road tripping car.
Last for this group was the 1968 Porsche 911 2.0 Targa. Freshly restored, this car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I loved the interior fabrics and the “classic cool” air about this car. Perfect!
After we wrapped up the Dallas session, we hit the road to Wimberley, Texas, a small town just outside of Austin that is popular year round. Waiting there was a 2005 Ferrari 575 Maranello Superamerica, an emerging classic, which was in beautiful condition. It was amazing to be able to hit the roads in this “new classic”, hearing the V12 engine echoing off the canyon walls.
Enjoy the images!
