Buffy & Jerod’s Engagement Gorgeous Session at Brazos Bend State Park – Perfect Light! – Houston Wedding Photography

Buffy was referred to me by another great Houston wedding photographer, and I am very happy that it all panned out! Buffy and I talked about the desires for her set, and she always came back to something natural, beautiful and “different”. She chose Brazos Bend State Park as her location, which I’d never shot at before. I was excited about shooting out there though, because I’d heard the stories about gator sightings and the great scenery. As Ashleigh and I arrived at the park and took a preliminary look around, I knew it was going to be a great set.

I didn’t know it was going to be this great, though! Buffy and Jerod were a ton of fun to work with, having fun with the session the entire time, and being pretty much ready for any weird request I threw at them (“can y’all go climb in that possibly snake-infested grass so we can get some ‘forest-ey’ shots?”). We couldn’t have asked for better light the entire time of the session, which started as sharp golden rays piercing through the wooded areas and eventually fading into a dreamy soft pink hue right at sunset. Shooting wide open pretty much the entire time, I was able to use natural light for the entire set, which is what I always prefer over using speed lights and other artificial light. I wish I could always have it this good!

A set always excels when a wedding photographer and the couple mesh, and I think things couldn’t have gone any better. Ashleigh had a ton of fun shooting around with Buffy and Jerod, and I think it shows. I am very excited about this set, and I hope everyone loves it. Congratulations again to Buffy and Jerod!

Family and friends, you can find the entire set here, with photos available for print and purchase: http://civitello.smugmug.com/Weddings/Downing/
