This wedding has been a long time coming! I was referred to Buffy through another wedding photographer who I’ve shot with on many occasions, and we hit it off immediately. She made it very clear up front that she did not want to have the “typical” wedding and that “typical” photos just wouldn’t do. I excitedly accepted the challenge, having the feeling that her wedding would turn out to be something very special. She had a very small ceremony and a larger reception both planned at Carothers Coastal Gardens in Seabrook, Texas, and after looking at some photos of the venue, I knew it was going to be great.
As time drew closer to the wedding, Buffy stayed in touch often, checking on the timing of the wedding with me, and giving me a big say on the day’s events so that they photos could be taken at the best possible time. With my recommendations, she moved forward with an outdoor afternoon ceremony, which would end before sunset so that we could capture the perfect light as the sun went down over the ocean.
The day came, and everything went perfectly. The ceremony was gorgeous, with the sun peeking behind a large tree draped in spanish moss as Buffy and Jerod exchanged their vows. It was the smallest ceremony I’d ever shot, and I really enjoyed the intimacy of the setting, and the freedom I had to move around to get the best possible angles. After the ceremony, we spent some time at the edge of the property right near the coastline and got some amazing couples shots. We finished up as guests began to arrive, and went back towards the building to begin the reception.
The reception was action-packed, with lots of dancing, limbo and even a cameo by Batman himself! The night flew by, and soon it was time for their sparkler exit complete with a Mini getaway car. With just a slight sprinkling of rain, they exited in grand fashion and drove off into the night. It was for sure a wedding to remember.
