Engaged: Matt & Jenn! Great set with a 1956 Chevrolet Corvette and Tom Mix Duesenberg at Hermann Park

I was fortunate enough to shoot Matt and Jenn’s engagement set this past weekend. What a great time! Matt and I met while I was on location at the John O’Quinn estate shooting some vehicles in his collection for auction. Matt is a mechanic at the collection and keeps all these amazing cars in good working order, sometimes breathing life into machines that haven’t run in decades. While I was shooting on location a few of the times, Jenn would come in with cookies, cupcakes and other snacks for the crew – a gesture that was always appreciated!

The last time I visited in early December, Matt was talking about an upcoming vacation that he was going on with Jenn and a few other friends. He said that he’d also made up his mind about proposing to her on the trip. We tossed a few ideas back and forth, and agreed that I’d take the engagement photos for them.

Right before we were scheduled to meet last weekend, he gave me a call and shared an idea that he’d had. Since he has access to all these great cars, why not include some of them in the set! I was a bit embarassed that I’d not thought of something like this, and quickly agreed. Upon arriving with my girlfriend (my trusty “flash-girl”) at the John O’Quinn warehouse for the shoot, we “settled” upon a beautiful 1956 Chevrolet Corvette convertible and the outrageous 1932 Tom Mix “Big Cow” Duesenberg. We got some great shots with both cars, and after we wrapped up the shoot at that location, we moved to Hermann Park.

Upon our arrival at Hermann Park, it was a bit drab and overcast. As we walked to scout locations however, the clouds parted and a great sunset lit up the entire park with beautiful, golden light. We jumped at our new opportunity and shot around a few areas of the park. Jenn had gathered a few ideas off of Pinterest.com and I think they all turned out great! That website is great for ideas, and I plan on spending a little time lurking around her profile!

All in all it was a great shoot that produced some great images. It always helps when the couple is truly happy and shows it when in front of the camera. Having some amazing cars to use as props didn’t hurt either!

Congrats to Matt and Jenn!
