I was excited to meet with Jason and Kayli for this late summer session. They wanted something different from the traditional set, and it was fun to choose places to shoot of the beaten path. I thought Summer Street Studios, with the giant busts of the past Presidents would be a perfect place to start. They seem to have multiplied since I last visited there, and we were surrounded by dozens of the nations past leaders as we shot, haha. We dodged a quick but heavy Houston-style 10 minute downpour by ducking into the studio space and getting some photos in great, textured light that was spilling through the windows. After the rain let up, we headed over to the Menil Collection, a place that I always find interesting and different. The crisp, clean architecture by Renzo Piano contrasts perfectly with some of the natural surroundings on the grounds.
I had a great time shooting with Kayli & Jason, and I can’t wait for their wedding in May of 2014!
