Married! Ryan & Jessica’s Multicultural Wedding at Agave Road

I drove out to Katy, Texas on a bright and sunny March afternoon to cover Jessica and Ryan’s wedding at Agave Road. The location is situated right off I10 behind a long line of wooden fencing. The grounds are covered with agave and other plants that make you feel like you’ve been transplanted to New Mexico, complete with the large adobe compound which is fenced in with large wooden doors with great detail.

The first thing I noticed upon arriving was how diverse Jessica’s family was! Family members had come from all over the United States, Mexico and ever Germany! I watched as Jessica handed her German family members Lone Stars explaining that this was a good example of Texas beer. It seemed to complement the hot weather perfectly, and they looked like they not only enjoyed the beer but the puzzles that come on the inside of each bottle cap.

In keeping with the multicultural theme, the reception area was set up with many Mexican themed items like maracas, small decorative hats and Mexican candies. It all fit so well with their families!

After hanging around Jessica’s room for a while, I decided to sneak off to Ryan’s quarters to get a few shots of him as he and his friends readied themselves for the ceremony. Ryan is a happy, really genuine guy who seemed to be a bit shocked that all this was just for him. He and his friends were joking around pretty much the whole time they got ready. After a few photos of them, I headed back upstairs to get photos of Jessica in her dress. We got some great portraits aided by the slowly setting sun, which cast a warm orange light across the whole compound. The large wooden doors made for a great backdrop – I loved the texture!

The ceremony started right on time, and Ryan and Jessica were married under a calm twilight sky with all their friends and family around. Maracas were shaken as the couple walked back down the aisle after being married, a perfect setting for the couple!

The reception was beautiful, with the most intricate groom’s cake that I think I’ve ever seen! Featuring a little campsite with a river flowing through it and some deer off in the corner, it looked more like a cool scaled model than a cake!

The couple danced with each other the entire night, and it was pretty apparent that everyone was feeling the love. Family circled around them, singing traditional Spanish songs all the way up until it was time to go. Their exit was a quick one, right into a waiting limo that whisked them off for the night. It was a great wedding from start to finish!

On to the photos!
