Grand Opening of 2 Texas Tesla Superchargers – Corsicana and Huntsville | Houston Automotive Photographer

I am excited to be a part of another set of Tesla Supercharger openings here in Texas! This time, I made the trek out to Corsicana and Huntsville, Texas to provide coverage for Tesla as they unveiled more stations in their ever-evolving network across the country. We expected some very “un-Texas” weather on the day of the opening, and I arrived early that morning to a frigid, yet no less exuberant group of Teslas and their respective owners.

What I love most about these events, as well as being around Tesla owners and vehicles as a whole, is the sense of camaraderie and excitement that they all share with each other, with the company, and anyone else who is interested in the push towards electric cars. It is even apparent at the Superchargers, where each Tesla neatly parks at the charger to get enough of a charge to make it home before happily surrendering their spot for another Tesla in need of juice.  I always enjoy striking up conversations with owners to hear their personal stories about Tesla ownership, nearly all responding with absolutely glowing reviews for the car and company. It is refreshing to see something like this come from within a car company from the first time in so long, and I am excited to play my part, however small that may be.

Before the official opening of the Supercharger, everyone took full advantage of the complimentary coffee inside at the Collin Street Bakery, whose friendly staff and warm seating areas provided an excellent refuge from the cold. Once it was time for the grand opening, everyone huddled outside as the formalities were made. Everything was short and sweet, and immediately following the ceremony we all piled into our respective cars and got on the road to Huntsville, Texas, which is about an hour and a half south. On the way, the weather began to deteriorate even further, with the temperature dropping down into the mid to low 30’s and a nice mix of rain and soggy snow falling. After making a quick stop to pick up a poncho and cheap umbrella at a nearby Target, I arrived at the Holiday Inn Express where the Superchargers are located. A last second plan was devised for the grand opening to shield everyone from the freezing rain, and things quickly got to business, finishing the formalities in under 2 minutes! After saying goodbye to a few people I’d met, I hopped back in the car to get on the road to Katy for a bridal session. It was a long day, but well worth it! I can’t wait to see the ever expanding web of Tesla’s Superchargers take shape, and I hope to be able to cover more of them in the future.

On to the photos!
